Reunion ("old sorority sisters") Weekend Was So Much Fun

Can you tell?  No post on Monday and it is later than usual for my Tuesday post.
When everyone arrived, I wanted them to know how happy that I was to have them and had this lucky little turtle charm on each pillow.
There were fresh flowers by every bed, a basket of goodies for emergency feelings of food deprivation, a runner of butcher block paper with shells stamped
all over for each of us to stop and write thoughts and funny things that were happening all weekend...our own little time capsule for this weekend.  I found "scratch your name on a sticker" to put on our cups-to keep from losing our cups and to be a bit green.  The cottage was filled with laughter from 8:00 AM until 2:00 AM both days. FUN FUN FUN.

Happy Weekend To All!

I am sending these beautiful flowers to you via this blog.  It is almost as good as the real thing don't you think?  They are from Urban Crop.
Their herbs and flowers are not harvested.  They come with the root system and their own supply of soil
and also the beautiful packaging that it is to be kept in.  This way your flowers and herbs stay fresher longer.

So enjoy the flowers and have a happy weekend!
See you on Monday.
I am having nine "old" sorority sisters
from college at the beach.  I have a SURPRISE planned and it is
...................in case they see this......I am not telling it.

Old whiskey crate side table

Katie Thompson of recreate takes throwaway pieces and re-thinks them
into unique and wonderful household items.
OHHHHHH, they still have part of their past but she adds personality and a new life.

Imagine appliances in 2050!

When I was in school, I enjoyed seeing the many resolution to a design project. Each of our designs were so different.  When I saw this Electrolux Design competition, I was amazed.  Each of the participants had to imagine how appliances will be used in the year 2050.  These are the 8 finalists for the Electrolux Design Lab 2010!

AMAZING!! Isn't it?

Words on a Table

You can read the poem inscribed on the desk below.

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down--
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is is you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?

Living Outside.....the box-Literally

In this art installation in Brazil, 2 brothers are living outside of their apartment in the name of art.
The building is in Rio's Old Center.  Tiago and Gabriel have been sleeping, working and eating on the side of a building 33 feet above the ground for 12 hours a day.
This began in May and will end in August.

Sand Art by Jim Denevan

Jim Denevan creates amazing but temporary sand drawings on the largest of canvases- the beaches of California.  He creates mostly by dragging a stick or rakes on the sand.  His temporary creations are are also constructed in the earth and on ice where eventually they are erased by the waves or the weather.

Enjoy watching an installation of Jim's art
