BNP Paribas bank in Paris, created by
Paris-based architect Fabrice Ausset of Zoevox.

This bank is a 1,000 square-meter funhouse of colors, shapes, textures and forms with the goal to entice the customer to discover, interact, experiment and enjoy.

How great would it be to go to a Bank of America or Wachovia and see this?!

Jill Sharp Brinson

While flipping through House Beautiful magazine, I saw Jill Sharp Brinson's design of a living room and dining room located in Atlanta. They were absolutley gorgeous, with a very rustic look. I loved her design so much that I took a look at Jill's website-www.jillsharpstyle.com where I found these beautiful images of another living room and dining room. This design is like a breath of fresh air. Heavenly and inviting. Some would even call it breathtaking :)

Beijing Theater

National Grand Theater, Beijing, China

I came across this as I was looking at pictures of interesting building design. I just had to share this beautiful and creative structure.

A somewhat controversally modern structure just west of Beijing's Tiananmen Square, the National Grand Theater, or The Egg, is one of the most amazing theaters in the world. It is surrounded by an artificial lake, and was built with titanium accented glass.

Maya Angelou Quote

Hiii Everyone...It's Dina! Hope you enjoy my first blog post!

So as I was waiting at the design center for fabric samples, I flipped through a Kravet magazine and noticed a quote by Maya Angelou... which read..."Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." I've read this quote before, but not the way I did today. Being in a room surrounded by thousands of fabric and wall paper samples, and having floorplans floating in my mind, I realized that nothing takes your breath away like a beautiful design. Whether of a building, a room, or even a painting...Design can be breathtaking.

I guess someone else agrees with me on this quote...

Keep up with our posts this week and we'll take your breath away :)

Million Dollar Decorators Aired On May 31st .....

....and I missed it!

Thank goodness, Bravo, runs their shows more than once.
I caught it the next night and was not impressed.

Nutshell version-
deadline problem with the Osbournes, divorce mid-
project, birthday celebration with guacamole made with
dirty hands and questionable comments made to the client.

The show and the decorators did nothing to dignify the profession of Interior Designers.
I suppose that is why the title is Million Dollar Decorators.

In case you don't know there is a difference......

The biggest difference in the two, is that designers must have an education.  Decorators don't need any education.

As of 2009, 25 states and the District of Columbia had educational requirements in place for interior designers. Most of those state requirements are based on the standards of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, or NCIDQ. Under NCIDQ standards, designers must earn a minimum of 120 semester hours of course work, with no fewer than 60 of those hours focused on interior design work. Most colleges and universities that offer programs in interior design are designed to satisfy the NCIDQ requirements [source: NCIDQ].

On a positive note. The work that was shown on the show was wonderful.

README- Table/Lamp

Designed by Peter Boeckel,
the readme is the                                                  combination of a lamp and a table. Standing on four legs it is lightly influenced by the characteristics of a small chest and at the same time, the traits of a lampshade with some shelving thrown in.

Used materials are white maple and coated steel.
